LCR IT Desktop Services

The Network and Desktop group provides the day-to-day service for more than 800 LCR public and staff workstations, at multiple locations both on and off campus including: those of the Health Information Network and The Military Museum.

Responsibilities include support and maintenance of:

  • computer hardware such as bar code readers, computers, laptops, monitors, data projectors, scanners, and other peripherals
  • hardware inventory and record keeping for: warrany information, ordering, installation,  moving and security
  • computer software inventory, record-keeping for licences, ordering, installation, security, backup and updates
  • the Learning Commons: computer hardware, software, network connections
  • interlibrary loans' applications including: Ariel and Relais
  • laptops
  • MacIntosh workstations
  • network administration including: subnet management, IP assignment, and trouble-shooting
  • installation of label printers
  • staff file server
  • video conference support in the TFDL
  • special activities such as setup for conferences, and computer moves during renovations
